Cycle Time Mapping

The Cycle Time Mapping module is the core configuration layer that defines how a part is produced on a specific production line. It links items/parts to their required production steps (Operations) and sets the standard time required for each.

This mapping is critical for the MES to calculate production capacity, estimate completion times, and schedule batches accurately.

1. Cycle Time Mapping Dashboard

The dashboard provides a centralized view of all active production blueprints in the plant.

Key Fields in the List

FieldDescription
Production LineThe specific assembly or foundry line where the part is processed.
Part Name & NoThe unique identification of the material/component.
Operation NameA summarized list of all sequential steps (e.g., Grinding, Inspection) mapped to this part.

2. Managing Mappings

To update or view a configuration, use the Actions column in the dashboard.

Editing a Mapping

Click the Edit icon to open the Batch Operation Form. This allows you to configure the Operation Configurations for the Part-Line pair:

  • Operation Sequence: The order in which operations must be performed.
  • Cycle Time: The standard duration (in seconds or minutes) required to complete each operation for one unit.
  • Resource Assignment: (If applicable) The machine or station within the line assigned to the operation.

Deleting a Mapping

Removing a mapping will clear the blueprint for that part on the specific line.

[!CAUTION] Deleting a cycle time mapping may prevent the part from being selected in the Production Planning or Job Card modules until a new mapping is created.

3. Why it Matters for Planning

Correct Cycle Time Mapping ensures:

  1. Accurate Scheduling: The system knows exactly how many units can be produced in a shift.
  2. Efficiency Tracking: Actual production time is compared against these mapped standard times to calculate OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
  3. Bottleneck Identification: Planners can identify which operations take the longest and optimize the production flow.

Summary

The Cycle Time Mapping module transforms static item data into an active production plan by:

  • Binding parts to specific production lines.
  • Defining the sequential steps required for manufacturing.
  • Establishing time standards for every operation.
  • Enabling accurate performance and efficiency reporting across the factory.
